There is a storm brewing, slowly but surely and it may change what impact the media thinks fans are capable of when human rights are concerned.
Ender’s Game was a 1985 best-seller by Card.
Over the years Card has been known for making many homophobic remarks for example:
“Laws against homosexual behavior should remain on the books, not to be indiscriminately enforced against anyone who happens to be caught violating them, but to be used when necessary to send a clear message that those who flagrantly violate society’s regulation of sexual behavior cannot be permitted to remain as acceptable, equal citizens within that society.”
— Orson Scott Card, “The Hypocrites of Homosexuality,” Sunstone Magazine, Feb 1990
So now with a big-buget movie planned for release, blog Geeks Out have started a campaign for people to pledge that they will keep their money in their pocket and boycott the movie.
io9 have reported, “This boycott was already getting a lot of attention, when Card threw gasoline on the fire by claiming that homosexuality wasn’t an issue in 1985, and boycotting his work is a sign of intolerance.”
