With the ABC documentary on the children overboard scandal airing tonight at 8:30pm entitled Leaky Boat and an extra QANDA session after, I dearsay that Australians may rear its ugly discriminatory head once more as they are in fear of becoming one country that will become ‘brown’. The early previews say that PM at the time John Howard told the heads in charge of this situation that he wanted no media leakage to the public that made his issues “human”. Ummmm WTFUCK?
Back in 2000 I was 13 years old and this was the very first news story I heard about and in hiensight I remember thinking, “What a stupid man.” My general response then, is the same as it is now, only maybe a bit more less knowlegable but never-the-less stands: “If they want to get away from a bad country, why can’t they come here?”
Now I do pray tonight that the theme song for this documentary isn’t the Split Enz classic “6 Months In A Leaky Boat.” If it is, then I am claiming asylum.
I must stress though that now a days my views are more supported by an undisclosed political party and I am informed more on the issue by reading whatever I can about the issue and talking to two people who have had a sell out comedy show entitled, “Fear Of A Brown Planet” they are Aamer Rahman and Nazeem Hussain. These young men are very forward with their views on religion, the hijab and niqub.
Hopefully tonight’s documentary will open some eyes.
